Into the Woods at Dorchester Hospital

Into the Woods at Dorchester Hospital

Into the Woods is a group exhibition at Dorchester Hospital until mid March. The exhibiting artists are Tim Edgar, Jim Hunter, Tony Kerins, Debbie Lee, Shannon Ribbons, and Katy Shepherd. It was made possible through Arts in Hospitals. I am exhibiting some of my walnut ink drawings about ‘The Baron in the Trees’. The woods have long been an inspiration to artists and a source of connection to nature. This exhibition is the result of a group of Purbeck artists who got together to explore the woodland during lockdown. They supported each other through sharing skills and ideas. My drawings are based on a novel by Italo Clavino. A box set of etchings accompanies the show you can view it at this link Into the Woods. It includes a print from Julie Winsor who was in the exhibition at Durlston Fine Foundation Gallery.

Royal West of England Academy 169th Annual Open Exhibition

I am thrilled to have work selected for the 169 Annual Open Exhibition at the Royal West of England. Here is a picture of ‘Let Sleeping Cats Lie’ mono print 36x26cm. It was inspired by looking at a self portrait by Gwen John. I was exploring this theme to make a series of portraits based on ‘portraits of the past’. The annual exhibition is open from 8 October to 8 January at the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol.

I have also donated a small painting to the Royal West of England Academy Secret Postcard Auction which takes place between 31 October and 10 November.

Printmaking Residency at Lemonade Litho

Printmaking Residency at Lemonade Litho

Printmaking Residency at Lemonade Litho. In May I began an art residency at Lemonade Litho in Bristol which was supported by a bursary from a-n The Artists Information Company and Arts Council England. I worked in collaboration with Catherine Ade of Lemonade litho to use the process of colour lithography.  This has enabled me to translate ‘Dante’s Inferno’ into a limited edition picture scroll.

You can see the finished scroll on this link Dante’s Inferno Scroll.

The Wonderbook has made a wonderful article about my scroll you can read it here Debbie Lee and Dante’s Inferno.
