Childhood Memories
My paintings are influenced by observations of my own children and by my experiences working with children as an art therapist. The characters in my pictures are often in transition, on the threshold of emerging into adulthood. My work uncovers childhood memories filled with naive truth yet obscured by fairy tales; what is revealed plays with the unconscious juxtaposition of ideas and shadows of the past. I have made images and animations based upon childhood games which highlight the importance of play in developing the self.
